Down in the River to Pray

Here’s our inspiring song for today: the glorious Gospel song Down in the River to Pray as sung by Allison Krauss with the Berklee Gospel Ensemble. I particularly like the line Good Lord, show me the Way. It has long since been my daily prayer, especially when I feel lost and alone.

Mostly, however, I use inclusive terms: Spirit, show me the Way; Father and Mother, show me the Way; Beloved One, show me the Way; Sananda and Sol-O-Man, show me the Way, the Way of Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine Love; the Way of Third and Seventh Ray love.

Brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, children of God, one and all, come on down with us to the River of Life and Love, wherein Spirit, our Father-Mother God, will show us His-Her Way of Love. So be it!

  1. I love this song. I first heard it in the movie, ‘O Brother Where Art Thou?’
Fyi, here’s a video clip from that movie where Alison performs the song. I think it’s really fun to watch. Great mantra for any day of the week!
