Friends, here’s our joyous song for today: You Can Have Him Jolene as sung by the three-member ladies group Chapel Hart from Mississippi. You cannot help but smile and feel good while listening to it, which I have done a dozen times.
This is amongst the best country songs I have ever heard, full of energy, sung beautifully, great story line, the whole nine yards. So please do enjoy it. And my goodness, get up and sing and dance, just like all the folks in the audience do.
It is a take off on the Dolly Parton signature song Jolene, about a man romancing two ladies. In this update, the leader singer of Chapel Hart kicks out the two-timing creep who is romancing the two women. After trying for years to get him to shape up, which he doesn’t do, she throws him out and finds herself a new, good man.
Most of all, I love the music of this, its energy, the beautiful voices and the humorous presentation. But then again, which one of us does not have someone in our life who does not appreciate and love us rightly, who may say the right things to our face but disrespects us behind our backs, who we have loved and helped for years but refuses to change, who therefore we remove from our heart, who with love and the sword of truth we turn over to God. Out with the old, in with the new! Forward we get on down the road.
